Beautiful Day for a Walk

It was such a beautiful day today!

Jackson, Murphy and I went for a short walk to the beach.

Murphy was getting so shaggy so I took him to the groomers yesterday and asked for a spring cut!

Murphy Talks

Murphy is a talker - well it seems like talking to me but really it's just whining/growling and various other noises with head movement.

Listen for yourself...

He is "communicating" to me that he wants his dinner.  I want you to know that he is not starving and hungry whining for food.

He was fed this morning, a big breakfast, and we normally feed him again at 5 pm.

This campaign for an early dinner started at 4pm!

Dog Tired

Sarah was home for a few days for reading break and we took Murphy for a long walk.

 When we got home he was dog tired!!

 But if you say the words "go", "ride", "out", or "walk" he perks up again.  

He is ready to go anytime!

It's been a while since I updated this blog so here are some current pics of Murphy.

I was changing Sarah's bed sheets and when I came back to make the bed I found Murphy here.

I had to take a picture because this is not normal behaviour.
Our dogs don't sleep in our beds -  they never used to come upstairs at all.

Yesterday I took Murphy for a walk along the Ambleside sea wall.

He's a bit lonely these days so it's nice for him to get out and mix with other dogs.

He has really attached himself to Jackson.
They love to cuddle and now he sleeps on the floor in Jackson's room.

I really miss having 2 dogs in the house.  If it were up to me we'd each have a dog!!

Murphy misses having a playmate for sure!

We are considering getting another dog soon.

It's nice to have dogs in the house - to spread the love and run around with!

Somebody needs a haircut!

Cone Head - Sore Feet

Murphy does not like wet grass.  

We dry his paws when he comes in from outside but in the winter months (it rains a lot here) he bites and chews and "worries" at them.  

He will bite off pieces of his pads and then he limps around for days.

I've tried socks, lotions, tensor wraps and nothing seems to work for very long.

When it's really bad and we can't correct him we have to put the cone on.

He doesn't like it but he does tolerate it quite well.

Weekend at Peter's in Cowichan

It's time for a road trip.  

We are off to Peter's cabin for the weekend.

It's a good thing Murphy loves the car!!

We take a ferry to Vancouver Island and then we'll meet up with our friends and their dogs!!

Murphy runs loose all over the property and goes in and out of the Cowichan River with his pals.

On this sunny day we visited Sarah at her new apartment in Vancouver and then had a picnic lunch in the park.

Sunny September Hike in Lighthouse Park

New dog bowls

While we were on the island visiting Peter we went to the Duncan Farmers Market.

We got lots of great produce and stuff for dinner and we bought this new raised bowl set for Murphy.

I think he likes it.

Murphy is a bit lonely since Sam is no longer with us.

He likes to "shadow" us around the house and spends most of the day with me in my office.

I moved his bed in...it's a tight squeeze but he doesn't seem to mind!
